The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has been informed that extension and renovations works of the Officers Mess at the Defence Headquarters (DHQ) are complete.

Members led by Chairperson Hon. Nelson Koech (Belgut), had visited the DHQ on a site inspection tour of works on the facility as part of their oversight mandate on the Ministry of Defence.

This has been prompted by the widespread allegation of collusion between NHIF officials and private healthcare facilities to defraud the national insurer. Amason Kingi yesterday witnessed His Excellency  President Dr. William Ruto assent to the Finance Bill (2023) and the Appropriations Bill (2023). The President also approved the Supplementary Appropriations (No.2) Bill, 2023.

The National Assembly Committee on Labour held an approval hearing for the nominee for appointment as a member of the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Dr. Phylis Wambui Wagacha.

The Committee chaired by Hon. Erick Muchangi (Runyenjes) inquired into the nominee's educational background and its relevance to the position, gaps in SRC and ways to address them, push and pull between the Commission and Parliament, appraisals of workers, issues of ghost workers, and matters concerning working hours.
