The National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) Committee has completed inspection tours of ICT hubs developed through the kitty's budget in the Central and Upper Eastern Regions.Β

The Upper Eastern delegation was led by Committee Chairperson, Hon. Musa Sirma (Eldama Ravine) while the Central Kenya team was under the leadership of Committee Vice-Chairperson, Hon. Tandaza Sawa (Matuga), and Dagoretti-North MP, Hon. Beatrice Elachi.

Β The Upper Eastern Team toured ICT hubs in the Constituencies of Manyatta at Kanorori Vocational Training College, as well as similar hubs in the North-Imenti Constituency at Kaaga Chief's camp and at the NG-CDF Municipality.

Β The team also visited Tharaka Youth and Maara Youth Empowerment centres which are due for upgrade to accommodate theΒ Ajira JitumeΒ Program.

Β In North-Imenti Constituency, the team inspected the ICT hubs at Ng'onyi Meru and Mwirine Chiefs' Camps.

Β In addition, the team visited the ICT hubs in Gatundu South Constituency, located at Gatundu Town DCC Office and Gatundu KMTC.

Β Separately, the team also visited the Maragua Constituency ICT Hubs situated at the NG-CDF Hall before proceeding to Kieni Constituency where the MPs inspected similar facilities at Kieni NG-CDF Office Mweiga and at Kieni Technical Vocational Centre.

Β The team later proceeded to Kirinyaga-Central Constituency where they visited hubs at the NG-CDF office and Kagumo Primary School.

Β During the visits, the MPs engaged with beneficiaries of the programme and also sought to know from residents and other local experts’ areas of further support that could be provided to boost the ICT hub initiative through the NG-CDF Kitty.

Β The delegation's leaders stressed the need for speedy completion of the projects, which the Committee noted were critical for job creation for the youth and opening up the country to digital transformation.

Β Hon. Sirma said the Committee's focus on the ICT hub project, was informed by the recent changes to the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (Amendment Act) 2023 which brought significant changes to the types of projects eligible for funding under the kitty.Β
