The Budget and Appropriations Committee is set to conduct public hearings in 20 counties across the country, on the Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, for the Financial Year 2024/25 and the Medium-Term.
The Public hearings will commence on Wednesday, 15th of May 2024 and conclude on Friday, 17th of May, 2024.
Members of the public and stakeholders can also submit their written memoranda through the office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, on or before Monday, the 20th of May, 2024; by 5pm.
Day one of the Public hearings will be conducted in Mombasa, Machakos, Kiambu, Nakuru, Kericho, Kisumu, Kakamega, Meru, Mandera, Homabay and Turkana Counties.
The second phase of Public hearings will be conducted in Kilifi, Taita Taveta, Murang'a, Baringo, Narok, Nyamira, Vihiga, Isiolo, and Nairobi Counties.
In coming up with the criteria for the counties to be visited, the Committee undertook a fair selection process of the Counties prioritizing those that have not been visited in past public participation exercises.
The National Government Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for FY 2024/25 and the Medium-Term, proposes to continue prioritizing the implementation of the Bottom-up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The Committee is also seeking submissions of memoranda from the public on the Supplementary Estimates II for FY 2023/24, to be submitted to the office of the Clerk of the National Assembly, on or before Monday, the 20th of May, 2024.
The Supplementary Estimates II seeks to provide additional funding for emerging priorities, meet unforeseen expenditures and realign budgetary allocations to projected absorption levels
