The Justice and Legal Affairs Committee led by the Chairperson Hon. George Murugara (Tharaka) held a meeting with the Leader of the Minority Party Hon. Opiyo Wandayi (Ugunja) who appeared before the Committee with proposals for amendment to diffrent laws to abolish the death penalty. 

Members of the Kenya Disability Parliamentary Association (KEDIPA) have  expressed  concerns over the slow issuance of visas to deaf sports persons seeking to represent Kenya in the World Deaf Handball Championships in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The National Assembly has approved regulations to establish the National Peace Support Operations Fund, which will provide support for Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) peacekeeping missions and operations. 

This is a result of the House adopting a Report of the Committee on Delegated Legislation, which considered the Public Finance Management (National Peace Support Operations Fund) Regulations, 2023.  The purpose of these regulations is to create the National Peace Support Operations Fund, into which the Government is expected to contribute Ksh1 billion.

The National Assembly has proceeded on short recess which runs from Friday, 7th July 2023 to Monday, 24th July 2023.

The National Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon (Dr.) Moses Wetangula, has called upon Cabinet Secretaries to respect the House invitations and appear before the plenary to address questions pertaining to their respective dockets.

Expressing concern over the absence of some Cabinet Secretaries, Hon. Wetang'ula emphasized that the National Assembly represents the will of the people, and under Article 153 of the Constitution, Cabinet Secretaries are accountable to the House.
