The Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula today presented to President William Ruto, the Division of Revenue Bill 2023, (National Assembly Bill No. 9 of 2023) for assentment into law at State House, Nairobi.

Following the assenting of the Division of Revenue Bill 2023, (National Assembly Bill No. 9 of 2023)  into law by H.E President William Ruto,  the County Equitable Share has now increased by Sh15.4 Billion leading to Counties to receive Sh385.4 Billion in the 2023/2024 Financial Year as compared to the currents’ Sh370 Billion.

The  National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee (JLAC) chaired by Hon. George Gitonga Murugara (Tharaka) held meetings with Legislators proposing various amendments to different Bills.

The Government of Kenya has spent over Kshs.19 billion since July 2022 to alleviate the impact of drought in the country's Arid and Semi Arid Areas, according to Rt. Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary.

Rt. Hon. Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary today responded to Questions by Hon. Yusuf Hassan, MP Kamukunji Constituency regarding the drought management, supply and distribution of relief food in Arid and Semi Arid Areas.

A section of members of the Departmental Committee on Communication, Information and Innovation took part in a consultative workshop geared towards Supporting Kenya’s Digital Transformation for Sustainable Economic Development.

The forum, organized by the Estonian Centre for International Development, through the Estonian Ambassador to Kenya, brought together stakeholders from the Kenyan Communication and Digital sectors including the Communications Authority of Kenya, to discuss potential areas of borrowing and collaboration from the highly successful Estonian systems.

The National Assembly's Committee on Public Petitions Chaired by Hon. Nimrod Mbai met the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Ag. Chief Executive Officer Dr. Samson Muhora and National Parents Association (BPA) Chair Mr. David Obuhatsa to discuss the implementation of the Edu-Afya Medical Scheme for Public Secondary Schools. .

Africa is well endowed with sufficient natural resources, human capability and an enthusiastic workforce sufficient for progressive development, said Speaker Wetang’ula.
