SPEAKER WETANG'ULA OUTLINES KEY BUSINESS TO BE TRANSACTED AS THE HOUSE RESUMES SITTINGS.

Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula has outlined the key businesses that the House is expected to transact as it resumes sittings after recess.

Consideration of Budget Estimates for Financial Year 2023/24, the Finance Bill (2023), and the subsequent Appropriation Bill (2023) are among the businesses that the Members are expected to give priority in June.

Members will also be expected to make considerations of special Motions for approval of proposed appointments of various persons to the Judicial Service Commission(JSC) Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) and National Intelligence Service (NIS).

“I wish to welcome you back from the long recess. I note that the recess turned out to be a working break for most Committees, given the intense time that had to be invested in the consideration of Budget Estimates for the FY 2023/2024 and other Bills, the vetting of nominees proposed for appointment to various State offices and other priority matters that were referred to Committees before and during the just ended recess,” said Speaker Wetang’ula.

The Speaker reminded Members of the need for the House to settle down as soon as possible in order to tackle the business beforehand within the stipulated timelines.
