DEFENCE AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS COMMITTEE TOURS UN OFFICE IN NAIROBI

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations has today toured the Kenya Mission to the United Nations Office in Nairobi.

The  Committee led by Vice Chairperson Hon. Maj. (Rtd) Bashir Abdullah (Mandera-North)  assessed the Mission's operations, challenges and opportunities in addition to enhancing their knowledge of the Mission's mandate.

Hon. Bashir said the Committee work plan for the 2022/2023 Financial Year underscores the importance of oversight visits to Kenyan missions to assess the implementation of the strategic plans of the Ministry.

"Consequently, the Committee resolved to visit the United Nations Office in Nairobi (UNON) in order to assess the Progress made and challenges faced and opportunities available in the Mission," said Hon. Bashir, during the meeting, was also attended by Ministry officials.

The UNON team was led by Kenyan Ambassador to UNON/United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Ms. Rose Makena Muchiri.
