MARSABIT COUNTY SENATOR SEEKS FOR A STATEMENT ON THE STATUS OF OIL EXPLORATION IN TURKANA.

Senator Mohammed Chute of Marsabit County is seeking a report on the status of oil exploration in Turkana.

Through a request for statement that is before the Senate, Sen. Chute wants the Energy Committee to furnish the Senate with information on the status of oil exploration and extraction in Turkana since the discovery of the oilfield in 2012.

The senator also wants the committee to state the companies involved in the exploration and extraction of oil in Turkana besides giving the current price of crude oil per barrel and the current value in Kenyan currency of the commercially viable oil reserves.

“The committee should also state the cumulative quantity of oil that has been produced so far and the projection of the oil exploration project in the next 10 years,” sought Senator Chute.
