CPAC MEMBERS MEET COUNTERPARTS FROM KAKAMEGA COUNTY

The County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) held a meeting with the Public Accounts and Investment Committee of Kakamega County Assembly which is on a week-long benchmarking tour of the Senate.

During the meeting the two committees discussed ways in which oversight can strengthened in all the 47 counties with the Senate Committee playing the role of a brother.

SENATE JOINTLY CONVENES A TWO DAY POST ELECTION SEMINAR WITH COMMONWEALTH PARLIAMENTARY ASSOCIATION

The Speaker of Senate Rt.Hon. Amason Kingi, EGH, has expressed the need to entrench the role of Parliamentarians in peace building in order to promote regional stability and stem conflict.

The Speaker while making his opening remarks during the Inaugural joint post election retreat between the Senate and Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) said it was time leaders use their positions to end conflict within the region.

House Clerks Appoint Thursday 17th November, as Election Day of Members to EALA

Pursuant to Rule 15 (1) of the East African Legislative Assembly Elections (Election of Members of the Assembly) Rules, 2017, the Clerks of both the National Assembly and the Senate who are the Presiding Officers, have appointed Thursday, 17th November, 2022 as the Election Day. 

The elections shall be held at 10:00 a.m. in the National Assembly Chamber and at 9:30 a.m. in the Senate Chamber, respectively, Main Parliament Buildings, Nairobi.

 

HON SENATOR JOYCE KORIR ELECTED VICE- CHAIRPERSON OF PSC

At its First Sitting held today, 16th November, 2022, the Parliamentary Service Commission elected Hon. Sen. Joyce Korir, MP as the Vice Chairperson of the Commission.

Article 250(10) of the Constitution provides that Members of the Commission shall elect a vice-chairperson at its first sitting. Further, Article 250(11) requires that the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Commission shall be of the opposite gender.
