THE BUDGET COMMITTEE REPORT IS READY FOR TABLING IN THE HOUSE

The Budget & Appropriations Committee chaired by Hon. Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu)  has discussed and adopted the 2023/24 Budget Estimates report of Expenditure and Revenue.

This Report is a result of deliberations with the Departmental Committee chairpersons on the Budget Estimates for the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies under each Committee's purview.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Speaker of the Senate, the Clerk of the Senate, the Clerk of the National Assembly, and members of the organizing committee for a debriefing meeting with His Excellency President William Ruto.

Senate Speaker the Rt. Hon. Amason Jeffah Kingi, EGH, Mp today attended a briefing on the National Prayer Breakfast meeting slated for Wednesday June 7, 2023.

The meeting that took place at State House was convened by President William Ruto ahead of the annual event that will take place at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.

The National Prayer Breakfast according to the organizers is aimed at offering a platform for Kenyans to come together, reflect and pray for the national unity and progress of the country.

PETITIONS COMMITTEE CONSIDERS THE DE-GAZZETTMENT OF HOLA IRRIGATION SCHEME

The National Assembly Select Committee on Public Petitions chaired by Hon. Nimrod Mbati (Kitui East) has embarked on a fact-finding mission to Tana River in regard to a petition presented by Hon. Said Buya (Galole) on behalf of Tana River residents. 

The Committee met with the National Irrigation Authority (NIA) Management, County Government officials, Members of the County Assembly (MCA’s), and representatives of the farmers.

BUDGET COMMITTEE ENGAGES CS TREASURY ON BUDGET ESTIMATES

The Budget and Appropriations Committee chaired by Hon. Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu) met with the National Treasury & Economic Planning Cabinet Secretary (CS)  Prof. Njuguna Ndung’u who appeared before the Committee to shed light on concerns in regard to the Financial Year 2023/24 Budget Estimates.

Members tasked the CS to explain the Government's plans to meet the debt obligations in FY 2023/24 including the repayment of the Eurobond among other debt redemptions measures, amid the country’s limited access to foreign financing.
