RISING PETROLEUM PRICES, ENERGY COMMITTEE MEETS MINISTRY TO ADDRESS CONCERNS

The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Energy chaired by Hon. (Eng). Vincent Musyoka (Mwala) held a meeting with the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum officials to address concerns about the rising cost of petroleum products in the country.

The meeting sought to scrutinize internally generated revenue and explore viable measures aimed at curbing the escalating prices that have burdened consumers across the country.

Led by policymakers devoted to ensuring a sustainable and affordable energy sector, the meeting focused on formulating strategies to alleviate the financial strain on Kenyan citizens.

During the meeting representatives from various State Agencies under the Ministry led by the Cabinet Secretary Mr. Davis Chirchir, presented their budget estimates and projections.

The SAGAs' budget presentations provided valuable insights into the financial aspects of the energy sector, enabling the Committee to gain a comprehensive understanding of the funding requirements, allocation priorities and financial transparency.

"This meeting provides a platform for comprehensive discussions on the challenges faced by consumers in relation to the rising prices of petroleum products. Our goal is to alleviate the burden on ordinary citizens and foster an energy sector that promotes economic growth and social well-being," said Hon. (Eng.) Musyoka.
