The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang'ula has appointed nine Members of the National Assembly to serve in a mediation Committee of the Division of Revenue (Amendment), Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 38 of 2024).

Β

This is following the National Assembly’s rejection of the Senate amendments to Bill on the 16th of October 2024.

The Division of Revenue (Amendment) Bill (National Assembly Bills No. 38 of 2024), seeks to amend the Division of Revenue Act, 2024, to revise the sharing of the revenue raised nationally between the National and County Governments, to reflect the downward revision of projected ordinary revenue collection for the Financial Year 2024/25.

The Bill was passed in the National Assembly on the 7th of August, 2024 before proceeding to the Senate, where it was passed with amendments on the 3rd of October 2014.

In his communication to the Hon. Wetang’ula informed the House, β€œHonourable Members, as you are aware, on Wednesday, 16th October 2024, the House rejected the Motion on consideration of the Senate amendments to the Division of Revenue (Amendment) Bill 2024 essentially committing the Bill to mediation as in accordance with Article 112 of the Constitution and Standing Order 149.”

Having consulted with the Leader of the Majority Party and the Leader of the Minority Party, the Speaker appointed the nine Members to represent the National Assembly in the mediation Committee including Hon. Ndindi Nyoro, CBS, The Hon. Mary Emaase, Hon. (Dr.) John Chikati, Hon. David Ochieng, Hon. David Kiplagat, Hon. (Dr.) Otiende Amollo, Hon. Fatuma Jehow, Hon. (Dr.) Makali Mulu, and Hon.
