The Principal Secretary for Land, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development, State Department for Public Works Joel Arumonyang` has told the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget that lack of adequate funding is among the challenges that have slowed or stopped completion of construction of 5 County Headquarters in the county.

PS Arumonyang explained to the Senator Ali Roba led Committee how construction of County Headquarters of Isiolo, Nyandarua, Tharaka Nithi, Lamu and Tana River were slowed or stalled, appealing to the Senate to intervene and help sort out the issue.

The PS submitted that in Isiolo the project was only 50 percent complete, in Tharaka Nithi 82 percent and 60 percent complete in Tana River County.

In Lamu and Nyandarua Counties the construction is at 60 and 55 percent complete respectively.

The Ministry was given one month to deliberate and give a report on transfer of the contracts to the 5 counties fully.

Members in attendance were Mandera County Senator Ali Roba (Chairperson), Mombasa County Senator Mohamed Faki, Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka, Migori County Senator Eddy Oketch and Kakamega County Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale.
