The Senate Ad Hoc Committee thatβs pushing for Compensation to the Kenyan Victims of the 1998 US Embassy Bombing joined survivors today at the 7th August Memorial Park to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the terror attack.Β
While addressing the victims and their families, Machakos Senator, who is the Chairperson of the Ad Hoc Committee, called on the Kenyan Government to also look at the plight of the survivors by offering them employment opportunities and subsidized medical treatment.Β
βBesides lobbying the USA Government, as a Committee, weβll coordinate with the Ministry of Health to explore ways in which the Government can offer subsidized medical treatment for the surviving victims of the bomb blast,β Senator Kavindu said.Β
On their part, the Members of the Committee thanked the Senate Leadership for approving the establishment of the Committee and reiterated their resolve in finding a lasting solution to the survivorsβ suffering.Β
βI assure the country that the 13th Senate has their interest at heart. The Senate gave this Committee the mandate to deal with this matter in the country and the United States of America. Weβll do our best,β Baringo Senator William Cheptumo added.Β Β
In attendance were the Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, Narc Kenya Party Leader Martha Karua and DAP Kenya Party Leader Eugene Wamalwa.Β
The Party Leaders, who were representing Azimio Party Leader Raila Odinga, thanked the Honorable Senators for helping the victims and their families get justice and wished them all the best in their endeavours.
