The National Assembly Departmental Committee on Education chaired by Hon. Julius Melly (Tinderet) is advocating for a comprehensive and collaborative approach to address exam cheating. The Committee chairperson who spoke today after meeting officials from the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) emphasized the need to exert every possible effort in combating this detrimental practice.
"We will achieve victory in our battle against cheating in national exams if we join forces. We must not hesitate to confront this menace head-on," said Hon. Melly.
During the meeting, the CAK Director General Mr. Ezra ChilobaΒ and DCI Director Mr. David Birech presented their views on the matter.
The Committee is conducting an inquiry into the allegations of cheating during the last year's Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.
Hon. Melly instructed both officials to appear before the committee on Thursday, July 6 , in order to provide detailed answers to the specific questions raised by the lawmakers.Β
"We need comprehensive and satisfactory responses from the CAK and the DCI, as they play pivotal roles in addressing the issue of exam cheating effectively, " explained Melly.
