The Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare led by the Vice Chairperson, Sen. George Mbugua held a meeting today with the Inspector General of Police,CS Ministry of Health, Management of First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency Limited; and the Petitioners of the alleged fraud committed by the aforementioned Agency to deliberate further on the investigations being carried out by the Senate on the Agency's fraudulent activities.Β
The Inspector General Japhet Koome, revealed to the Committee that Eldomage Medical facility where the petitioners were subjected to medical examination is not registered by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Board. He further reported that the Interpol National Central Bureau Nairobi is yet to respond on an inquiry for invoices and agreements to ascertain the existence of the purported job opportunities in Qatar.Β
The matter is currently being investigated by the DCI since March 2023 and the Inspector General ensured the Committee that those found culpable will face the full force of law.
Hon. Nakhumicha S. Wafula the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Health has undertaken to keenly look further into the medical issues raised by the petitioners and respond to the Committee in two weeksβ time.
In conclusion, the Committee requested the IG to hasten the investigations of this matter as the distressed petitioners have been in quest for justice since last year with no success.
