Senate speaker Amason Kingi has eulogized the late Marya Elizabeth Adjibodou as an exceptional parliamentary officer who personified commitment and diligence, pointing out that her demise is a big loss to the Parliamentary Service.
In the communication to the House as a tribute to Mrs Adjibodou, the Speaker described her death as tragic and condoled with her family, friends and colleagues at this most tragic time.
βOn behalf of all Senators, the entire Parliamentary staff, and on my own behalf, I wish to take this opportunity to condole with the family of Mrs Adjibodou, Parliamentary Staff and all her friends in this most difficult time. The Parliament of Kenya has indeed lost a diligent and committed staffer,β said Speaker Kingi.
Until her death on Tuesday June 6, 2023, Mrs Adjibodou was a Principal Clerk Assistant attached to the Senate Service in the Parliamentary Service Commission.
The Late Mrs. Adjibodou joined Parliamentary Service on December 6, 2005, as a Personal Assistant in the office of the then Vice President and Leader of Government Business Moody Awori.Β
She formally joined Parliamentary service on April 21, 2009, when she was recruited as a Clerk Assistant in the Directorate of Legislative and Procedural Services in the National Assembly.
She served in the Table Office and following the promulgation of the new Constitution in 2010, Mrs. Adjibodou joined the Senate Service in February 2013, as a Senior Clerk Assistant in the Directorate of Committee Services.Β
She later joined the Directorate of Legislative and Procedural Services where she rose to the level of Principal Clerk Assistant I, heading the Journals, Procedural Research and Records Department, where she served until her demise.
Mrs Adjibodou was born on December 24, 1968. She holds a Masters of Science Degree in Community Economic Development and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing, both from the New Hampshire College in Manchester, UK.
She obtained her βOβ and βAβ levels at the Hillcrest Secondary School in Nairobi.
The condolence book has been opened in the office of the Deputy Clerk for Members and staff who wish to convey their condolences to the family and friends.
