The Senate Standing Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism Chaired by Kajiado Senator Lenku Ole Kanar Seki held a meetingΒ todayΒ to consider Statements requests committed to the Committee.
The Committee has received responses on:
1. Statement on effects of government austerity measures on the hotel industry requested by Sen. Godfrey Osotsi. The response from the Ministry of National Treasury and Economic Planning.Β
2. Statement sought by Sen. James Murango on measures taken to market Kenyan Produce in external markets. The responses to these two statements were deemed unsatisfactory and the Committee resolved to follow up the matters further with the relevant Cabinet Secretaries.Β
Besides, the Committee is awaiting responses from the Ministries of Investments, Trade and Industry; and Tourism and Wildlife on Statement sought by Sen. Samson Cherarkey concerning the state of Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in Kenya, and statement sought by Sen. Mohamed Chute on the Status of Management of Museum and Heritage Sites in Kenya respectively.Β
