MUNG BEANS FARMERS IN MUTOMO TOWN,KITUI SOUTH CONSTITUENCY, KITUI COUNTY MAKING SUBMISSIONS TO THE SENATE STANDING COMMITTEE ON AGRICULTURE, LIVESTOCK AND FISHERIES ON THE MUNG BEANS BILL 2022
The Senate Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Chaired by Kirinyaga Sen. James Murango receiving submissions from the Mung Beans farmers in Mutomo Town, Kitui South Constituency, Kitui County on the Second day of Public Participation.
The Mung Beans Bill 2022, which is sponsored by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua provides for;
1. A framework for the coordinated implementation of the national policies and strategies on the development and regulations of the Mung Bean industry.
2. Facilitate and develop a framework to regulate and promote the development of Mung beans industry in Kenya in order to make it competitive at the international level
3. Promote the productivity if the ming bean industry and generate higher income for growers.
4. To promote the use if the Mung Beans by the National and County Governments in the implementation of feeding programmes
5. Facilitate the introduction of modern Mung beans farming techniques and general modernization of the Mung bean industry for cost control and productivity improvement
6. Provide a framework for implementation of effective marketing strategies for Mung bean in Kenya and at the international level.
