The National Assembly Committee on Finance and National Planning chaired by Hon. Kuria Kimani (Molo), continued receiving views from members of the public in the ongoing public hearings in regard to the Finance Bill 2023.ย
The Juakali Contractorsโ Federation of Kenya, which includes three cluster associations that were involved in the pilot โAffordable Housingโ project in Park Road, where their members benefited from the supply of materials, skills, and labour, expressed their support to the National Housing project saying it will benefit them as an association in terms of job creation and the opportunity to own decent houses.ย
Other groups that supported the national housing plan include the Nairobi Market Traders Association, the Boda Boda Association, TVET graduates, the Association of Musicians, Kenya University Studentsโ Association, Matatu Drivers, Thika Juakali Sector, Kanyonyo Muguka Farmers, Nyandarua Farmers, Subukia Traders, Association of Pastors, Single Mothers Association, Kariobangi and Babadogo Women among others.
While supporting the housing project, Ms. Grace Wanjiku representing Persons with Disabilities called on the committee to come up with measures to ensure that they can be able to be allocated the houses as there have been previous cases of them missing out.
