TITLE DEEDS WILL BE ISSUED TO KISAJU HOME OWNERS

Senate Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing chaired by Kiambu Senator Karungo Thangwa held a meeting with Directors of Jamii Bora Trust in respect of petition concerning access to title deeds for properties bought at Jamii Bora Estate, Kisaju, Kajiado County.

Ms. Sofia Ingrid Munro, the director of Jamii Bora Estate appeared before the Senate Committee on Roads, Transportation and Housing to explain why the residents of Jamii Bora Estate in Kisaju have not received their title deeds in spite of fully payment for the housing units.

"My vision was to develop low costing Housing units in Kenya, we developed two-bedrooms units for Ksh. 350,000/-, each home owner was supposed to pay Ksh. 3,000/- per month for 20 years." said Ms. Ingrid

However, Swedish churches that were sponsoring the low cost housing decided to close the companies that were developing the project in Kisaju due to lack of transparency and long time used to construct the project.

"The bank that had held the mother title of Kisaju homes has agreed to release the title deed for the home owners to get individual title deeds for their properties." said Ms.Sofia Ingrid

Vice Chairperson Sen. Peris Tobiko said, "I want to go on record, the directors of this company have taken long enough and take the residents in circle for more than 20 years, we must conclude this issue and have closure the Kisaju title deeds issue."

Senator Madzayo said that Kenyans had invested their money in Kisaju project and it will be sad for owners who are older to die before getting the title deeds.

The Chairperson Senator Karungo Thangwa said, "We want to help the developer do the right thing, I have given you two weeks to provide all documentation and meet again on June 8th, 2023."
