The Senate Senior Board of Management, led by The Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye, visited the Busia County Assembly in a bid to inspect the level of preparedness and plans on the ground in readiness to hold the Senate Plenary and Committee sittings dubbed Senate Mashinani, scheduled from the 23rd to 27th September, 2024. The Senate Mashinani initiative, which is held annually, is part of the Senate's continuous effort of enhancing its working relationship with the counties and interaction with the public at a grassroots level whilst also giving the legislators an opportunity to assess the state of devolution in the county.

" Today we are glad and privileged to host a high powered delegation led by the Clerk of The Senate to this Assembly and by and large after your assessment of the various facilities we have to offer, we as the Assembly and the County Executive are looking forward to hosting a successful Senate Mashinani scheduled for next month" stated Speaker Wafula. On behalf of the Board of Management, the Clerk of the Senate thanked the Speaker and his office for their hospitality and great reception. "We are now deep into the countdown towards the 4th Edition of the Senate Mashinani and we are very excited to be in the frontier county of Busia. As we continue to ascertain the level and state of preparedness I am happy with the progress that we have seen so far with regards to the state of facilities at the County Assembly. We are ready to roll up our sleeves and get straight to work in making the plans on the ground a success" reiterated Mr. Nyegenye.

Upon the conclusion of touring the Assembly and its facilities, the Senior Board of Management, made a courtesy visit to H.E. the Governor Paul Otuma who on behalf of his office reiterated their ultimate support in ensuring the success of the Mashinani sittings. "As we interact with the Senate, it is going to enrich our understanding on the oversight role, especially for the County Executive members as this is clearly a synergistic relationship between the institutions of the County Executive, the County Assembly and the Senate in terms of providing the best service delivery to the people of Kenya which is not antagonistic in any way. We look forward to hosting a successful Senate Mashinani in Busia" expressed Governor Otuma.
