Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. (Dr.) Hon. Moses Wetangโula on Tuesday, July 23, 2024 delivered a message from the President on President of the nomination of 10 persons for appointment as Cabinet Secretaries.
Hon. Wetangโula said, the President, in exercising powers conferred on him by Articles 152(2) of the Constitution, as read together with sections 3 and 5 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, 2011, had forwarded the first list of appointees for consideration by Parliament.
โHon. Members, I wish to convey to the House that I have received a Message from His Excellency the President, notifying the nomination of various persons for appointment to the Offices of Cabinet Secretaries,โ he said.
The Speaker referred the Message from the President on the nominees to the Committee on Appointments for consideration.
ย โIn view of the foregoing and pursuant to the provisions of section 8 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, of 2011 as read together with Standing Order 42(3), I hereby refer the Message from the President, together with the curriculum vitae of the nominees to the Committee on Appointments for vetting,โ he said.
The nominees will appear before the National Assemblyโs Committee on Appointments to be vetted in accordance with section 8 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act of 2011 which provides that, the Committee to which such nomination is referred to shall consider the matter and table a report in the House within 28 days.
