Speakers Rt. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula and the Rt. Hon. Amason Kingi have hosted the Muslim MPs and staff for an Iftar dinner that marked the breaking of the fast during this holy month of Ramadhan.

Speaking during the event on Thursday, the leaders assured the congregate that prayer was the gateway to a peaceful living.

This is the first ever Iftar hosted for Muslim Legislators from both Houses hence creating an ideal opportunity to come together, strengthen relationship and show gratitude for blessings of life.

The leaders urged the Muslim community to use this holy month to pray for the people in the Middle East who are subjected to untold suffering occasioned by the war in the region.

β€œThe tension, butchering of innocent people and the suffering of women and children are exposed to should be of concern to us and it must come to an end”, said Speaker Wetang’ula.

Dr. Wetang’ula reiterated his commitment in pushing for the legislative agenda saying that the tension that existed between the two Houses before was history.

Speaker Kingi echoed his sentiments by encouraging the Muslim brethren to pray for a peaceful and co-existence. Β 

Defense Cabinet Secretary Hon Aden Duale, MPs - led by Leader of Majority Hon Kimani Ichung'wah and his Senate counterpart Hon. Aaron Cheruyot, National Assembly Clery Mr. Samuel Njoroge among other dignitaries - were present.
