Nandi Senator Samson Cherarkey, is seeking a Statement from standing Committee on Roads, Transport and Housing on the omission of construction of six interchanges on the Nairobi’s Western Bypass.

Senator Cherarkey in his statement wants the Committee to state the reasons behind the omission of six interchanges from the original plan by the China Road and Bridge Corporation for the Nairobi’s Western Bypass, despite the initial approval; The Committee to clarify the rationale behind disbursing the payment of Kshs. 21.5 Billion to the contractor despite the contractor’s failure to complete the interchanges as initially intended.

Nandi Senator also wants the Committee to state measures put in place by the Government to introduce junctions along the Western Bypass to ensure accessibility for the densely populated areas situated along the road and also Committee to highlight the steps taken by the Government to hold to account the officials involved in colluding with the contractor, leading to the omission of the interchanges.
