Senate Committee on Land, Environment and Natural Resources Chaired by Nyandarua Senator John Methu today met with Kakamega County Assembly Members of the Committee on Environment, Natural Resources, Energy, Water and Forestry on a consultative meeting.
Kakamega Country Assembly attained Knowledge on the scope mandate of the Land Committee as incorporated in Standing Orders, the level of oversight that Senate Lands Committee have and how can the same apply at County level, and the nexus between devolve and National function.Β Β
Legislators also directed the Kakamega County Assembly Members to familiarize themselves with the Natural Resources (Benefit Sharing) Bill (Senate Bills No. 6 of 2022) which is currently on third reading, since the bill will resolve most of the issues raised by the County Assembly Committee Members.
Members in attendance were, Vice Chair Sen. Dr. Lelegwe Ltumbesi, Sen. Johnes Mwaruma, Sen. Wahome Wamatinga, Sen. Agnes Kavindu and Sen. Beatrice Ogolla.
