NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IN MOURNING

The National Assembly is mourning the demise of Banissa MP Hon. Kulow Maalim Hassan.

Hon. Hasan passed on this morning at Aga Khan Hospital following a grisly road accident in Nairobi on Saturday.

The MP was serving his second term as Member for Banissa Constituency. He served in Public Accounts Committee and the Departmental Committee on Trade, Industry and Cooperatives.

The National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr) Moses Wetang'ula, described Hon. Kulow as a "dedicated, conciliatory and non-confrontational  servant-leader who cherished and always pursued peace."

"Indeed at the time of the unfortunate accident that resulted in his untimely death, the late Hon. Hassan was headed to the Mosque to say prayers," said Hon. Wetang'ula in his notification to Members about the MP's demise.

In line with the late Legislator's Islamic faith, the late Hon. Hassan will be laid to rest today at the Muslim Cemetery in Lang'ata.

The Speaker also constituted an Adhoc Funeral Committee, led by Mandera North MP Hon. Maj. (Rtd) Bashir Mohammed to liaise and coordinate the National Assembly support to the family, in line with the Parliamentary Service Commission Bereavement Policy.
