IEBC SELECTION PANEL RECEIVES 169 APPLICATIONS FOR VACANT POSITIONS

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Selection Panel has received  a total of 169 applications for the positions of chairperson and six Commissioners, Chairperson Dr. Nelson Makanda has said.

Addressing the media at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC), Dr. Makanda said, "As at 5pm Wednesday, the Panel had received a total of 169 applications from citizens”. This, he noted, signified a positive stride in the recruitment process.

Dr. Makanda encouraged eligible Kenyans to continue applying for the positions. "I want to take this opportunity to ask and encourage eligible Kenyans to apply for the vacant positions of the IEBC Chairperson and the six Members on or before the deadline of the 28th March 2023 at 5pm," he said.

The Panel will embark on preparing the long list of the applications followed by a short list. "Thereafter the longlist and shortlist of applicants will be published in the local dailies giving members of the public an opportunity to submit memoranda to the Panel containing any information of interest concerning the suitability of the shortlisted nominees as part of the public participation process required by the law in the recruitment exercise," he added.

The shortlisted applicants shall also be notified, through the local dailies, of the date, time and venue of the scheduled interviews that will be conducted in public.

Dr. Makanda assured Kenyans that the Panel will conduct the recruitment exercise in an impartial, fair and transparent manner.
