NG-CDF COMMITTEE INSPECTS PROJECTS IN EMBU COUNTY

The National Assembly's Select Committee on National Government-Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) this weekend conducted inspection visits in Runyenjes Constituency, Embu County. The Committee, led by the Chairperson, Hon. Musa Sirma (Eldama Ravine) was hosted by the area MP, Hon. Erick Muchangi (Runyenjes).

Hon. Sirma, noted that NG-CDF has played a crucial role in the development of Runyenjes Constituency since its inception in 2003. He observed that the Fund has been instrumental in the establishment of new schools, purchase of land for public institutions, construction of classrooms, dormitories, multipurpose halls, administrative offices and in response to emergencies.

“We are glad to witness the transformation this Fund has facilitated in this constituency. It has enhanced sporting activities in the constituency and given a shot in the arm to the 100% transition from primary school to secondary school initiative through the provision of bursaries to needy students. Runyenjes NG-CDF has allocated 35% of its NG-CDF to the provision of bursary and 47% to development projects”, noted Hon. Sirma.

On his part, Hon. Muchangi informed the Committee that the Fund has been used to sponsor bright needy students. The Committee heard that the process involves head teachers forwarding the names of bright needy students to the Fund’s secretariat.  The bursary sub-committee then does the due diligence. Runyenjes Constituency has a total of 243 public schools and security institutions.
