INDUCTION WORSHOP FOR SENATE LEADERSHIP OFFICERS

The Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Jeremiah Nyegenye, CBS earlier today opened an induction workshop for the new staff in the leadership offices in the Senate held at Pride Inn Plaza, Signature Mall in Athi River.

The theme of the workshop is ‘Induction as a toolkit for service delivery in a Legislature’.

In his opening remarks, the Clerk congratulated the officers for securing such a great opportunity to serve in the leadership offices of the Senate. 

Furthermore, he apprised the officers of the common goal in Senate which is to ensure that the Senate realizes its Constitutional mandate of protecting and enhancing effective implementation of Devolution.

The officers were guided through to understand the Structure of the Senate, their job descriptions and roles in supporting the leadership, build work ethics, ensure that they add value to the offices of their leaders and uphold discipline at all times in order to achieve success in their offices and the Senate generally.

In addition, they acquired insight on the duty of leadership in processing legislation, what is required of them to support their leaders in committee business, the role of senate liaison office in supporting the leadership offices and more others.

The Clerk committed to support the officers where necessary with a view to ensure effective execution of their duties in the leadership offices towards excellent performance of the 4th Senate.

Facilitating the workshop were resourceful leaders; the Deputy Clerk- Mr. Mohamed Ali, Director Speaker’s Office- Ms. Bibi Fondo, Chief Public Communications Officer-Ms. Dorcus Ambuto, Director Liasion- Dr. Buchere, Director Legal Services Dr. Johnson Okello, HOD Governance & Accountability Services- Ms. Emmy Chepkwony and Deputy Chief Serjeant at Arms-Major (Rtd) Joel Nkubitu.
