The Senate Standing Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism Chaired by Kajiado Senator Lenku Ole Kanar Seki met today to consider a Petition presented to Senate by Sen. Wakili Hillary Sigei on behalf of the Petitioner Mr. Rono Nicholas from Bomet County concerning fraudulent shareholding activities and illegal acquisition of EABL. 

In his Petition the petitioner noted that Kenya Breweries Limited is one of the oldest publicly listed companies in Kenya having been established in the year 1922.

The Senate Standing Committees on Labour and Social Welfare; and Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations Co- chaired by Sen. George Mbugua and Sen. Catherine Mumma respectively, held a joint sitting today with the National Council for Persons with Disabilities to deliberate on Programmes and Services offered by the Council and the actions they are taking towards Disability Mainstreaming.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has today requested a statement from the Standing Committee on Land, Environment, and Natural Resources regarding the perennial water shortages in Nairobi City County. 

While requesting the statement on the Floor of the House, the Legislator requested the Committee to state measures taken by the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company Limited to resolve the perennial water shortages experienced in Nairobi City County, particularly in Langata, Embakasi, and the Central Business Centre. 

𝐂𝐏𝐀𝐂 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐍 𝐓𝐎 𝐂𝐋𝐄𝐀𝐑 𝐀𝐔𝐃𝐈𝐓 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊𝐋𝐎𝐆

The Senate’s County Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) has launched a plan aimed at ending the huge backlog of the Auditor General’s reports for the County Governments.

The backlog dates back to five financial years and the committee is wants to clear out and make them real time.

To achieve this, the committee has designed a plan to increase the frequency of its meetings so as to expedite the process.

The highly anticipated annual National Prayer Breakfast will take place this Wednesday June 7th 2023 at Safari Park Hotel, along Thika Superhighway from 7.00am. This year’s event will be hosted by the Parliament of Kenya, and will be graced by president H.E Dr. William Ruto.

This year’s event, whose theme is dubbed 'Reconciliation', is expected to bring together political and religious leaders from across the nation, as well as members of the general public.

The Speaker of the National Assembly, Speaker of the Senate, the Clerk of the Senate, the Clerk of the National Assembly, and members of the organizing committee for a debriefing meeting with His Excellency President William Ruto.

Senate Speaker the Rt. Hon. Amason Jeffah Kingi, EGH, Mp today attended a briefing on the National Prayer Breakfast meeting slated for Wednesday June 7, 2023.

The meeting that took place at State House was convened by President William Ruto ahead of the annual event that will take place at Safari Park Hotel in Nairobi.

The National Prayer Breakfast according to the organizers is aimed at offering a platform for Kenyans to come together, reflect and pray for the national unity and progress of the country.
