The Senate Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations, chaired by Wajir Senator Mohamed Abbas, has today put Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku to task over the alleged misuse of a Kshs63 million World Bank grant to expand the Kajiado Municipality Market. 

This comes after Kajiado Municipality Clothes Market Traders drew the attention of the Senate, through a petition to the August House, that the County Government of Kajiado had misappropriated funds meant to refurbish and expand the market by scaling down the amenities that were intended and budgeted for.

"Over the last two months, the Senate Standing Committee on Energy has been looking into why the cost of electricity continues to be high in this country." Said the Chairperson of Energy Committee, Sen. Wahome Wamatinga.

The Chairperson stated that the inquiry has not only opened the committee's eyes to many things, it has also demystified a lot of myths that were held before. 

The Senators were speaking during Electricity Sector Stakeholder Conference held on 30th June, 2023 in TradeMark Hotel at the Village Market, Kiambu County.

Senate Joint Committee on Land, Environment and Natural Resources Chaired by Nyandarua Senator John Methu in conjunction with Committee on Roads, Transport and Housing chaired by Kiambu Senator Karungo Thang’wa, visited Nyandarua and Nyeri Counties.

A delegation from the Parliament of Kenya led by Sen. Kathuri Murungi, the Deputy Speaker of the Senate participated in the just concluded 63rd Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) Parliamentary Assembly and 43rd Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) - European Union (OACPS-EU) JointParliamentary Assembly (JPA), in Brussels, Belgium.
