The Parliamentary Service Commission Committee on Information and Public Communication and the National Assembly Committee on Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library on Thursday, September 26, 2024 met to explore strategies for increasing public engagement in parliamentary proceedings through broadcasting.

Lawmakers have deliberated on the Technopolis Bill (National Assembly Bill No. 6 of 2024), which proposes the establishment of a comprehensive framework to govern the development and management of Technopolis hubs across the country. 

The Bill, which was moved  by Chairperson of the Committee on Communication, In Information and Innovation, Hon. John Kiarie (Dagoretti South), seeks to create the Technopolis Development Authority, a body that will oversee the planning, development, and governance of all Technopolises in Kenya.

Members of the National Assembly on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 started debate on  a Motion seeking to reform the country’s education bursary schemes to ensure free and compulsory basic education for all. 

Members of the National Assembly have supported a Petition drawn by the Digital Boda Boda Drivers and Deliveries Association of Kenya, seeking the enactment of legislation to regulate the sector and to protect them from exploitative tendencies. 

The National Assembly and the Cabinet Secretary for Health have convinced the Appellate Court to temporarily suspend a High Court Judgement that invalidated three crucial health laws pending the hearing and determination of an appeal against the verdict.

The Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security, Hon. Gabriel Tongoyo, on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 told the House that the cause of fires witnessed in the Nairobi region is not yet known.

Hon. Tongoyo was responding to a Statement on the fire incidents witnessed in some markets in Nairobi County as sought by Embakasi West MP, Hon. Mark Mwenje.
