Senate commences its special sittings under Speaker Ekwe Ethuro as requested by Majority Leader Kithure Kindiki to discuss bills passed by the National Assembly last week among others.

The speaker further asked the  Interior Minister Major General (Rtd) Joseph Nkaissery to withdraw police barricades and security around the precincts of Parliament, as they are not required. He also directs Chairperson of the National Security and Foreign Relations Committee, Senator Yusuf Haji to have the Committee investigate the matter further to establish who ordered the action. This is after both Majority Leader Sen. (Prof) Kithure Kindiki and his Minority counterpart Sen. Moses Wetangula led their sides in condemning the actions.
