SENATOR JOHNES MWARUMA SEEKS FOR AN EXPLANATION ON THE DELAYED PAYMENT OF PENSION TO THE RETIRED KENYA RAILWAYS CORPORATION EMPLOYEES.

Taita Taveta Senator Johnes Mwaruma has tabled in the Senate a request for statement on the delayed payment of pension to the retired Kenya Railways Corporation employees.

Sen. Mwaruma through his request wants the Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare to establish the cause of the prolonged delay in payment of pension to the affected retired employees.

Further, the lawmaker is seeking to have the committee find out and give specific timelines and steps being taken by the Kenya Railways Corporation to overwhelmingly address the issue of stopped monthly pension payment that is now running in arrears.

In addition, Sen. Mwaruma wants the committee to engage and highlight measures being undertaken by the Ministry to address the issue.

“The committee should outline measures the Ministry has put in place if any to ensure that retirees receive their pension as and when it falls due in order to save pensioners from pecuniary embarrassment,” urged Senator Mwaruma.
