PARLIAMENTARY BROADCASTING AND LIBRARY COMMITTEE INSPECTS BROADCAST INSTALLATIONS IN KISII COUNTY

The National Assembly Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library Committee led by the Vice-Chairperson (Eng.) Hon. John Kiragu (Limuru) undertook an inspection visit of broadcast installations of National Broadcaster Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in Kisii County.

The Committee was out to assess the capacity of KBC to broadcast Parliamentary proceedings in the regions. In addition, Members wanted to find out the status of the technical equipment at the installations and get to know any upgrade needs to enhance transmission quality in the region.

Members found out that electricity to the transmission site had been disconnected due to large amounts of money owed to Kenya Power.

Hon. Eng. Kiragu, expressed concerns about the dilapidated state of the technical equipment at the facility, which he said was unfortunate as the country depends on KBC to follow Parliamentary proceedings.

"When we sit as a Committee these are some of the concerns that we will want speedily addressed," said Hon. (Eng) Kiragu.

The Committee is scheduled to visit KBC installations in Siaya County, Homabay County, and Vihiga County.
