National Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang'ula led Parliamentary staff in mourning John Mwendwa the Son of Director Litigation Mr. Sheriffsam Mwendwa.
A sombre mood engulfed the New Apostolic church in South B as mourners among them the Speaker, MPs and Parliamentary staff gathered for a requiem mass for John, 22 years, who passed on last week.
"The loss of a child brings profound sorrow to parents, who endure both mental and physical challenges as they navigate this tragedy," said Hon Wetang'ula.
He added:"Such loss often come with overwhelming feelings of sadness, despair, helplessness, and isolation".
Hon. Wetang'ula described John as a remarkable young man with immense potential noting that his passing is an unimaginable loss, a life ended far too soon.
"On behalf of Parliament and President William Ruto who is a friend of the family, I expressed our deepest condolences, and I pray for Godβs comfort to be upon the Mwendwa family in this time of grief," he added.
He recalled how he called Mr. Mwendwa to condole him when the news of his son's death was broken to him.
"When I called Mwendwa, I could feel the heavy burden he carried following the demise of his Son," he noted.
Said Hon. Wetang'ula:"I know the pain you're enduring but know that in me you have a friend just like in Parliament and we will stand with you during this grieving moment," he told Mr Mwendwa.
National Assembly Clerk, Mr. Samuel Njoroge who spoke on behalf of the Parliament family passed messages of condolences of all the staff to Mwendwa and his family.
MPs who joined staff in mourning John included, Hon. Makali Mulu, Hon. Innocent Mugabe and Hon. Peter Kaluma.
