The Speaker of the National Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetang’ula, has welcomed the Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq, Dr. Akram Jameel Slaiman, for a courtesy visit in his office at Parliament Buildings.

The meeting showcased the commitment of both nations to enhance their parliamentary relations and explore avenues for mutual benefit.

A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to revive the Kenya-Iraq Parliamentary Group, an initiative aimed at bolstering parliamentary collaborations and fostering deeper bilateral relations.

Dr. Akram highlighted Iraq's thriving oil and gas sector as a potential area of benefit for Kenya.

He suggested that Kenya could leverage Iraq's expertise and investments in security and military intelligence to enhance its own capabilities in these sectors.

“we have agreed to further these discussions and collaborations aimed at realizing the full potential of Kenya-Iraq relations”, said Speaker Wetang’ula.
