The Select Committee on Parliamentary Broadcasting and Library chaired by Turkana West MP, Hon. Daniel Nanokย supports the upgrading of equipment at the Parliamentary Broadcast Unit (PBU).
During a meeting in which the Committee was briefed on the status of the broadcasting facilities, Hon. Nanok said the Committee will prepare a report with a detailed breakdown of the broadcasting equipment needs, budgetary requirements and recommendations for consideration by the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).
Hon. Nanok also said it is the duty of the Committee to advise the National Assembly on all matters related to broadcast.
ย โWe want to get the National Assembly equipment working effectively. It is the duty of this Committee to advise on issues involving broadcasting,โ he said.ย
Speaking during the meeting, Langata MP, Hon. Phelix Odiwuor said that the Committee should work to archive information by moving from analogue tapes to digital.
On his part, Bonchari MP, Hon. Charles Onchoke said that the equipment that can be fixed should be fixed immediately and those that cannot should be replaced with new ones once the budget is approved.ย
Sirisia MP, Hon. John Waluke said that new equipment will serve a good purpose at the broadcasting unit.ย
Buuri MP, Hon. Rindikiri Mugambi added that the Committee should request for a complete overhaul of the Library and the Parliamentary Broadcasting Unit.
