Kisii County MP, Hon. Doris Donya on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 requested for a Statement from the Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security in regard to the random killings and the rising insecurity cases in Kisii County.
Β According to Hon. Donya, in early March 2024, two residents of Magenche Ward, Bomachoge Borabu Constituency were found dead under unclear circumstances.
Β βThe Constitution provides for the right of every person to life. Every person has the right to freedom and security. These rights are inalienable to every citizen regardless of age, status in life or locality,β she said.
Β She added that efforts to engage the police have proven futile.
Β βThe police response has been slow and unreliable owing to, among other things, lack of a police vehicle. Additionally, the number of officers deployed to these areas has been inadequate to deal with the ever-rising insecurity.Β
Hon. DonyaΒ sought to be provided with a report on the number of people arrested and arranged in court over the recent attacks in Obure Market and Nyambire Center.
Β She further wanted to know what measures the Government is taking to provide a police vehicle at Nyambore Police Station to ensure improved response to cases of insecurity.
Β Lastly, Hon. Donya requested to know any peace operation measures being taken by the Government in Bomachoge Borabu Constituency, in particular, Magenche Ward.
