𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟯, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

Tharaka Nithi MP, Hon. George Murugara has sought a Statement from the Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Administration and Internal Security regarding the disappearance and mysterious death of Ms. Peris Mugera of ID No. 30960640 from Ndiruni village in Tharaka Nithi County.

According to Hon. Murugara, Ms. Mugera who is a renowned political blogger and business lady based in Chuka Town went missing on the on the February 29, 2024 in Chuka Town only for her lifeless body to be found dumped along the Mwea-Sagana Road in Kirinyaga County on  March 1, 2024.

Hon. Murugara informed the House that the family of the deceased was in anguish as they are yet to receive any information from the police on the circumstances surrounding the death of their loved one.

On behalf of the family, Hon. Murugara is seeking answers to several matters including; the status of investigations into the disappearance and mysterious death of Ms. Mugera, the identity of her killers and the steps taken by the Government to ensure that they are prosecuted, the actions taken by the Government to ensure that Ms. Mugera’s family is protected from threats by persons likely to be associated with her death and the measures that are in place to make sure that the right of expression of all Kenyan political bloggers are protected.

Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Gladys Boss directed the Chairperson, Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security to provide a response within seven days.
