Speaker of the National Assembly, the Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Moses Wetangโula yesterday hosted the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Kenya, H.E (Dr.) Ali Gholampour at his Office, Main Parliament Building.
Speaking during the meeting, Speaker Wetangโula appreciated the gesture terming it progressive and promising.
โOur two nations share deep-rooted bilateral relations from pre-independence to the establishment of the Kenyan Embassy during President Moi's tenure,โ said the Speaker.
The two leaders deliberated on investment, bolstering trade initiatives, fostering technological innovations, infrastructural development and the nurturing of robust foreign policy frameworks.
ย Additionally, they explored the potential for enhancing closer ties through Parliamentary friendship groups between their respective legislative bodies.ย
Amb. Gholampour pointed out that the Parliamentary Research Center of Iran is a great opportunity for collaboration in areas such as capacity-building, research and the dissemination of knowledge through exchange programmes.
ย Acknowledging Iran's development progress and capacity, Hon. Wetangโula expressed Kenya's readiness to deepen and expand the foundations of mutual respect and cooperation between the two countries
