𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒

The National Assembly Special Funds Account Committee, chaired by Hon. Fatuma Zainab (Migori), on Tuesday 13^th February, 2024 held a meeting to address audit queries concerning the Judiciary Mortgage Scheme Fund. 

Acting Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Mr. Paul Ndemo was questioned about the lack of financial transparency spanning from Financial Year 2011 to Financial Year 2021. In spite of consistent Government funding since its inception, financial statements were only submitted in February 2023, raising serious concerns about reporting delays. 

Members scrutinized the Judiciary's agreement with Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB), noting a three percent administration fee and the absence of financial documentation linking Fund management to the National Bank. In addition, financial reports lacked essential details such as operating expenses, bank charges, and loan information, raising questions about accountability.
