The Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Budget today held a meeting with stakeholders among them the National Treasury, ICPAK and IGTRC to deliberate on the Public Finance Management Amendment Bill, 2023 (National Assembly Bills No. 16 of 2023), the County Governments Additional Allocation Bill (National Assembly Bills No. 23 of 2023) and the County Government (Revenue Raising Process) Bill (Senate Bills No. 22 of 2023.)
The Stakeholders gave their submission to the committee with the National Treasury through CS Prof. Njuguna Ndung`u calling for a robust discussion on the functions and funds for Library services.
He said there is need for stakeholders to have a discussion and find the away that will help establish Library services in 14 Counties that do not have the services at the moment.
Only 33 Counties across the country have Library services.
ICPAK and IGTRC gave submissions to the committee make proposals for consideration by the committee.
Members of the committee in attendance were Sen. Tabitha Mutinda (Vice Chairperson) who chaired the meeting, Kisii County Senator Richard Onyonka, Kakamega County Senator Dr. Boni Khalwale, Mombasa County Senator Mohamed Faki and Migori County Senator Eddy Oketch.
