Senate Standing Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism held a hybrid meeting today to deliberate further on the Petition by Mr. Nicholas Rono concerning fraudulent shareholding activities and illegal acquisition of East African Breweries Limited (EABL).

The Committee has held meetings with the Capital Markets Authority and the Petitioner in separate sittings where the CEO of Capital Markets Authority informed the Committee that the Petitioner had not logged any complaint with regards to the issues of concern raised in his Petition.

The Petitioner has been offered time to provide additional information to the Committee on the issues of concern which arose during the meeting with the Capital Markets Authority.

Sen. Lenku Ole Kanar Seki the Committee Chairperson and Sen. Esther Okenyuri the Vice- Chairperson, Sen. Jackson Mandago and Sen. Andrew Omtatah were physically present in the meeting while Sen. Karungo Thangwa, Sen. Crystal Asige and Sen. Betty Montet joined the meeting online.
