The National Assembly Deputy Speaker Hon. Gladys Boss has asked female legislators to be at the forefront in championing for the passage of the Two Thirds Gender Rule.

Hon. Boss said that although collective efforts are needed to achieve the principle that is enshrined in the Constitution, it is incumbent upon women in leadership positions to come out and spearhead the drive.

 "A multi-pronged approach to achieve the Two-Thirds Gender Rule that engages various stakeholders and sectors is vital. However, Kenyans look forward to us women in leadership to steer and support the campaign," she said. 

The Deputy Speaker made the remarks during an inaugural breakfast meeting for the Multi-Agency Working Group on the Two-Thirds Gender Rule at  a hotel in Nairobi.

“Our collective efforts in steering the implementation of this principle is very important. State and non-state actors must collaborate closely, pooling our expertise, resources, and experiences to develop comprehensive strategies for implementation,"said Hon. Boss.

“By working together, we can build a strong foundation for sustainable change and ensure the Gender principle is fully realized in all spheres of our society,” she added.

Several Members of Parliament attended the event. They include; include Hon. Owen Baya (Kilfi North), Hon. Peter Kaluma (Homa Bay Town) , Hon. Betty Njeri (Murang’a) and the Leader of Majority Party in the Senate Sen. Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho) and Sen. Veronica Maina (Nominated), and Sen. Beth Syengo (Nominated)
