The Leader of the Majority Party in the National Assembly Hon. Kimani Ichung'wah has said the National Treasury hopes to clear the outstanding balance of Ksh19.2 billion owed to National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF) by the close of the Financial Year.

In the 2022/2023 Financial Year, the NG-CDF Fund was allocated Ksh47.2 billion. The National Treasury has so far disbursed Ksh18 billion. In addition, a further disbursement of Ksh5 billion was processed last week. A further Ksh5 billion was released on Tuesday this week. This bringings the total disbursements to Kshs38 billion.

β€œThe delay, in keeping up with weekly disbursements of Ksh2 billion, was occasioned by challenges in resource mobilization both domestically and externally,” said Hon. Ichung’wah.

He, however, said the situation has improved with the disbursement of funds from the World Bank’s Development Policy Operations Facility this week.

He reiterated that the National Treasury has committed to continue mobilising resources.

β€œWith that, they will be able to disburse all NG-CDF money for this Financial Year, and no amount will be carried forward to the next Financial Year. I think that is very important so that we do not have arrears,” he said. .

In addition, Hon. Ichung'wah said the National Treasury remains committed to funding the NG-CDF, the NGAAF, county governments, and other items of interest both to the members of the public and Hon. Members of Parliament.
