The National Assembly Broadcasting and Library Committee led by Vice-Chairperson Hon. (Eng) John Kiragu concluded a two-day Western region installation inspection  tour with a visit to the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) in Kisumu. 

In Kisumu, the delegation visited the Kisumu office, where Members were hosted at the Mashinani Studio. This studio is an undertaking by KBC for free music recording for aspiring artists in the region.

The KBC team told Members that artists are required to register and book a recording date on the online Ajira platform. The national broadcaster then supports them by publicizing their music on its radio and digital platforms.

In his remarks, Hon. (Eng.) Kiragu said KBC has immense potential and an enviable opportunity to inform Kenyans on a timely basis.

"KBC has many assets, especially land which if properly utilized can make some profit for the broadcaster," said Hon. (Eng) Kiragu.

Hon. Phelix Odiwuor (Langata) said there is the need to publicize Mashinani Studio so that more youth become aware of its existence. 

"We need to let our young people know about the existence of these studios, the registration process and especially stress that they will not be charged to record music," said Hon. Odiwuor.

Earlier the Committee visited KBC transmission sites in Kisii and Siaya  counties.
