Murang`a Senator Joe Nyutu is seeking a statement from the Senate Standing Committee on Trade, Industrialization and Tourism on the circumstances that led to the closure of Murang`a County Creameries in Murang`a County.

Sen. Nyutu in his request wants the committee to state reasons for the closure of Murang`a County Creameries indicating plans in place by the County Government to revive the factory.

The Lawmaker requires the committee to apprise the Senate on the welfare of the employees, ascertaining if their benefits were paid, outlining strategies in place to have the employees reinstated when the factory is revived.

Further, the Legislator wants the committee to explain measures in place to ensure the affected farmers continue to market and sell their milk for the duration Murang`a County Creameries is closed.
