The Senate Standing Committee on Labour and Social Welfare chaired by West Pokot Senator Julius Murgor, today held a meeting with the Petitioners of the above mentioned Petition who were led by Mr. Kimutai Kirui and the Commissioner of Insurance Mr. Godfrey Kiptum.
The Commissioner responded to queries about the forged insurance certificates issued from Pioneer Insurance to some of the petitioners. At one time, out of a total of 11 insurance certificates issued for employment and study applications to foreign countries, only one person had been issued with a genuine travel insurance policy.Β
Among the invited stakeholders in todayβs meeting were; the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, the Inspector General of Police, National Employment Authority and the First Choice Recruitment and Consultancy Agency Director to shed light on matters raised in the aforementioned petition, however, they requested to be granted more time.
The Committee resolved to schedule another date for the meeting where all stakeholders relevant to this matter ought to be available.
Members of the Committee present were; Sen. George Mbugua, Sen, Mohamed Faki, Sen. Miraj Abdulrahman and Sen. Gloria Orwoba.
